PROJECT OVERVIEW

Overview

Midea Group, a global Fortune 500 company, is a leading enterprise in the home-appliance sector with substantial market recognition and consumer trust. SAFER provided comprehensive Industry 4.0 digital-intelligent planning for Midea's Thailand factory.

The project adopts an integrated operational model featuring "multi-directional shuttle vehicles with automated storage systems (AS/RS racking) plus external AGV automated handling," building a highly sophisticated smart warehousing system across three core modules: high-density storage and vertical transport, horizontal shuttle handling, and inter-line AGV transfer.

CHALLENGE & SOLUTION

Challenges & Solutions

▲ Challenges
A leading appliance manufacturer needs to store and retrieve a huge range of components and finished units at speed.
Material must flow between warehouse and production lines continuously, without manual forklift bottlenecks.
The plant needed to reach full Industry 4.0 operation on an aggressive schedule to support overseas expansion.
Both horizontal and vertical material movement had to be automated within the same footprint.
◆ SAFER Solution
High-density AS/RS racking sized precisely to Midea's SKU mix and throughput targets.
Multi-directional 3D RGV shuttles manage all horizontal material handling within the racking.
Vertical transport moves goods between levels rapidly, minimizing wait time.
AGVs automatically transfer materials between production lines and the warehouse, closing the loop end to end.
SYSTEM COMPOSITION

System Composition

Multi-directional shuttles for horizontal handling within the racking.
Vertical transport connecting all storage levels.
Automated transfer between production lines and the warehouse.
Unified digital management and scheduling across the whole facility.
OUTCOMES

Outcomes

Full Industry 4.0 operation — A complete digital-intelligent warehouse supporting Midea's global manufacturing strategy.

High-density storage — Nearly 4,000 locations maximize space utilization in the Thailand facility.

Seamless line integration — AGVs keep production lines continuously supplied without manual handling.

Scalable model — The AS/RS + AGV hybrid model is replicable across Midea's other global plants.
