PROJECT OVERVIEW

Overview

This project delivers a whole-plant intelligent warehousing system for one of the top three high-end customized-furniture brands in China, covering 8,000 storage locations across four high-bay AS/RS warehouses.

The system combines 3D RGV robots, tote-handling robots and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) with hoists, conveyor systems, and WMS/WCS software — engineered to handle the huge SKU variety inherent to made-to-order furniture manufacturing.

CHALLENGE & SOLUTION

Challenges & Solutions

▲ Challenges
Customized furniture means almost every order is unique, creating enormous variety in panel sizes and components.
The warehouse needed to handle large panels, small hardware totes, and everything in between.
Four separate AS/RS warehouses needed to operate as a single, coordinated system.
Made-to-order manufacturing has zero tolerance for mismatched parts reaching the production line.
◆ SAFER Solution
High-bay racking sized to handle the full range of custom furniture components.
Different robot types matched to different load types — panels, totes and mixed loads.
One digital system coordinates inventory and equipment across the whole plant.
Connects storage levels and warehouses for smooth, accurate order fulfillment.
SYSTEM COMPOSITION

System Composition

Automated handling across the four AS/RS warehouses.
Manage small parts and hardware totes efficiently.
Autonomous mobile robots handle mixed and irregular loads.
Unifies inventory and equipment control across all four warehouses.
OUTCOMES

Outcomes

8,000 locations across 4 warehouses — A large, coordinated storage footprint supporting whole-plant operation.

Handles extreme SKU variety — Panels, hardware and mixed loads are each matched to the right robot type.
